Mam Impex's safety, health and environment (SHE) policy and practices centres around a zero-harm philosophy towards people, host communities and the environment. Although the company operates in countries with differing governance standards, it consistently enforces a standard approach to SHE and does not compromise its standards of conduct when operating in any parts of the country.

Safety and health at work is one of Mam Impex's Corporate Business Principles which form the foundation of all we do. The Principles state:

“We are committed to preventing accidents, injuries and illness related to work, and to protect employees, contractors and others involved along the value chain.”

Safety and health is thus a fundamental value of our company. Whatever we do at work, nothing is worth the risk of injury. This is why we say that 'one accident is one too many'.

Our safety and health goal is zero injuries and illnesses – a holistic aim that includes all forms of harm to the individual. It's grounded in Mam Impex's Continuous Excellence – our drive to achieve the very highest operational standards wherever we work in the world.

Mam Impex's Social Economic Development (SED) strategy is about empowering the communities in our project catchment areas with resources, support and skills that ultimately lead to better lives.

The company's SED programme has three key focus areas:

Education and Training: with particular focus on maths, science, environmental science and technology education.

Social development: investing in community development programmes, HIV/Aids awareness and other emergency-related initiatives such as disaster relief and ad hoc sponsorship.

Economic development: with particular emphasis on promoting the sustainable creation of employment, particularly for marginalised and unskilled groups such as women and youth.Growth opportunities and continuous development We are committed to maintaining a clean environment and as a consequence believe this will create the ability to operate in a disciplined and sustainable manner over the long term which is fundamental to maintaining a competitive advantage and honouring the deliverables of corporate governance.
